About

Let’s meet Tabitha Jensen shall we? O yes, that’s me by the way, writing an about is rather odd, try it sometime if you haven’t. I’m an artist, dreamer and visual storyteller. Currently and for the past  almost 20 years? – I’ve lived in Rancho Cordova, California, but I grew up as a nomad because my father was in the active U.S. Army and then I later joined the Army as well. Thus I have a love for travel and adventure. I wasn’t always an artist but I did always love crafting and creating. Instead for most of my life my free time was spend reading fantasy, science fiction. Voraciously consuming lots of books, movies, shows, anime and animated films of all kinds. When I finally discovered my passion for drawing and painting it was during one of several dark times in my life. My brain chemistry didn’t seem to work the way it once did, and the written word slid off the pages and through my head. Nothing I tried to take in would made sense or would stick. But instead I found I wanted to draw. It became my solace and safe place. Little creatures and characters I would imagine started to come out on the paper (though so much more unpolished back then). I discovered a deep love for watercolor and it is one of the creative mediums that I have never grown bored with (like so many other creative outlets I dabbled with in the past). While I love watercolor and it is my main medium I also enjoy using ink, gouache, colored pencils, acrylic, pastels, markers and various other media. I don’t believe in boxing yourself in with a specific set of supplies. I hoard art supplies and can never seem to continue collecting more.

The world inside my head is one of whimsical fantasy, science fiction, creatures and characters seeking adventure, and the beauty of natural mysteries and the fae spirits who make mischief or protect us. While I live in the real world I often see my world superimposed over it. I often get asked where my inspiration comes from and the easiest answer is the simplest…from everything around me. That dad or mom walking down the aisle or a grocery store covered in little ones hanging onto them becomes a creature with little impish creatures hanging off them. The two baristas flirting become a cat and a mouse. That gentle giant…he’s my gentle giant and when the leaves and underbrush rustle as I walk past I imagine I hear laughter and little whispery voices.

(She also enjoys hand crafting things from paper, fiber and seeing what ways she can apply her art to useful daily items. She is a disabled army veteran, wife and mother of 2 rascal boys and loves to collect art by her fellow artists just as much as she loves to create it. She has managed a wonderfully supportive global art community for the past 10 years, produced several community artbooks and enjoys live streaming her art process on Twitch for others to enjoy as well as gain inspiration from viewers. Do you have questions about commissioning artwork or events I’ll be attending? Or is there something you would like but don’t see it in my online store? I often do not get around to listing all of my artwork in the Etsy shop but I can produce 100% cotton giclée prints of all my work and I’m available for custom wholesale commissions. Please email me directly if you have any questions and I’ll personally get back to you as soon as possible.
