Timeline and General info:

MAIL TO Host by: November 10, 2022

Requirements: 3 or 4 hand drawn art cards – As always our normal standards apply of original 2.5 x 3.5 inch original hand drawn/colored/painted cards in your best efforts. I swap cards around based on composition, detail, and final execution. Empty backgrounds or people/objects with solid color for background, or head only cards are discouraged, please try for more. This community is made fabulous by everyone trying their best and being supportive and encouraging of each other’s growth.

August’s THEME:

Food and Drink

We all enjoy our food and drink, so here you can show us how. Incorporate food or drinks in any way as part of your card concept. But be sure to include a character of some kind. 

Can your character BE food? Yes, HOWEVER, please don’t just draw a piece of food with a emoji face on it. That isn’t really the point of this theme. Now if you want to say create a character that is food (for example WrathofBom does amazing food inspired characters, they have arms, legs, a body, a head etc, then yes. What we don’t want to see is a apple with a smiley face drawn on it. Come on people!!

All of your cards MUST contain a character from at least their waist up. This means you are not just drawing a head shoving a sandwich in their mouth or chugging a beer. Though I would love to see a character having a 9am shot of whiskey…with frazzled black and pink pabkins cut hair LOL. 

Really we just want to see where you take the food and drinks theme. As always please try not to make a flat background with a solid color that is not fair to whoever might receive your card. Your full efforts please. If you need some inspiration here are a few random ideas:

  • Maybe set the scene in a :Diner, bar, cafe, coffeeshop, bakery, grocery store, convenience store, ooo Japanese storefront, a carnival or food stand, food truck, food cart!? movie drive thru, drive thru fast food, any place you’d go to get food! 
  • They don’t have to be eating or drinking! They could just even have food somewhere in the scene with them!
  • Maybe they are a food character!? But be sure you give them arms, legs, clothes whatever, make them a true character and not just a “food with face”
  • ok I’m all tapped out right now (that made me picture someone putting their head and open mouth under a barrel tap of wine or beer lol – do it someone!)

Please rise to the challenge and treat your fellow artists with respect by putting in your best efforts. If you are unwilling to put forth true effort then please do not apply to join!
