Welcome Pabkins Postal Members!
Thank you so much for taking the plunge and joining my Pabkins Postal membership.
I'm so excited for the relaunch of my website and the NEW launch of my personal webstore.
First I must give my eternal gratitude to the members that have been with my mail club prior to relaunching it here on my website. I hope you enjoyed your mail over the years and seeing as I grew and improved it! When you signed up here with the same email it should have given you a LEGACY membership rate. Now you will have a lower monthly rate than whatever the current membership rate is. If it didn't work just reach out to me and I can fix that for you and it will apply going forward.
Now I'll ramble on about Pabkins Postal and a little history about my mail club and maybe some tidbits about me.
- I've actually had this mail club for over 3 years! 😊 Previously it was over on Ko-fi. If you are among the folks that jumped here from there - thank you!
- It was always a "you stumble upon it" and subscribe if you want sort of thing. I started it originally because I love receiving mail as well as sending it. I started pen paling when I was in 2nd grade. My father was in the active army so we were constantly moving. It was always said to leave friends behind so I started snail mailing with any friends that wanted to keep in touch. I still have some of those childhood letters that I keep to this day tucked away in a time capsule box! Maybe someday it would be fun to dig them out and see if they are suitable for sharing. 💌
- Since I'm woefully bad at "promoting" myself 😫 I never really pushed or heavily advertised my mail club until last year. That is when I put up a QR code at my local art markets and occasionally started mention it more on social media. Though honestly my social media presence still needs a lot of improvement! I'm rubbish at making videos and posting regularly!! Wouldn't it be lovely to have someone who took the photos, did the video editing and hit the post button for me...I could just art and reply to all the lovely comments ahhh yes where are my helper imps!? 😅
- When I finally did that I started getting social media posts recommended to me for so many other mail clubs. I NEVER realized how popular and how much a 'Thing' artist's snail mail print clubs were. Now I seriously want to join a few too! Yes yes my precious I need more art mail in my life!! 😍💌
- If you ever feel like snail mailing me of course I would love that! My return address is on the envelope so you can write or draw back anytime you like! Tell me about yourself and how you discovered my art or anything! What your favorite stories and films are, do you like to create? What sorts of things, etc. Even if its just a silly joke. Personally I think getting mail and opening it is something so special and gives us that little dopamine kick. I think that's why I'm addicted to art mail and blind boxes. I love a surprise.
I've received drawings and doodles from a few folks, though mostly children whose parents signed them up. (They are so adorable I tell you!) It makes me so happy and I treasure those little drawings! Let me know if you are subscribing for a child when you signup. 😊
- I'll try to write a little note back if you do write me but can't always guarantee I'll be able to (especially since I send so much mail each month and as the club grows).
- When I send out the random monthly prize for each membership group they will always be standard artist trading card size - because I collect them as well as make them and seriously you should to! LOL. Who me forcing my collecting addictions on others?
- Now let's see - I've always wanted to improve and amp up my mail club but I am much slower then a snail...
Thankfully I finally kicked myself in gear this year and decided since I was having my website rebuilt and finally opening my own online store instead of relying on Etsy - that I needed to motivate myself to improve everything. I'm still working on the "everything" but my new and improved mail club is now ready for all of you! Can I get a ta-da? A drumroll?...rolling thunder? no ok I at least deserve a cookie and ice cream after this madness...I'd tell you about that in a future letter but I don't want to sound like a whiny wimp.
I'll stop my rambling for now and end with - I have so many fun things planned for the coming months and I'm excited to grow this club as much as I can. I hope you'll continue on the adventure with me and maybe suggest or share my work with a friend or family member? I added a Gift someone a 1 year subscription option as well!
Now that I've reached the bottom of my coffee mug,
Pabkins | Tabitha
