#ATCitupwithFriends is an ILLUSTRATION, Fantasy & Science Fiction focused Art Challenge – Trade Group hosted by Pabkins
July’s THEME:
Mice in Clothes
Who doesn’t love creatures in clothes? It’s time to flex your creature in clothes skills! – Except for this month all of your characters must be a type of MOUSE / MICE. They must be wearing some kind of clothes as if they are people. Try to imagine them in their daily lives. Whether you choose to place them outdoors, inside their homes or on an adventure etc doing whatever you’d like but is should be a scene element not just a character portrait card.
All of your cards MUST contain a character of at least 1/2 to 3/4 of their body AND scene elements! NO HEAD AND SHOULDER close up portrait cards with empty background or ones with random accents. The card MUST have scene setting / background or that card will not be swapped.
As this theme was chosen during a recent live stream from all the members that attended the stream that day – it was asked if you could draw fan art. For this month’s theme you CAN DRAW IN THE STYLE OF one of your favorite mice artist / illustrators but you CAN NOT COPY one of their compositions or works. You do not have to do another illustrator’s style this is just if you want to. This means if you want to emulate their style as inspiration that is fine. Do NOT take one of their pieces and recreate that same artwork in your style. But you can adapt their style for use in your own original character and scene. For example the artist style you want to draw in has a “mouse cooking dinner” artwork – do not redraw that same scene in your style. Draw and compose your own mouse cooking dinner. I hope this makes sense.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or if you need clarification on this! As I said you do not have to use another artist as inspiration, this is for those that wanted to do so.
During the course of our journeys as artists we do tend to find inspiration in the work of others, and often parts of their style naturally find their way into what develops into your own style, but copying the work of others is not the focus of this group (though we do master studies sometimes for learning purposes) our main goal as a group is to refine and develop our own skills and styles, so of course you are absolutely welcome to work in a similar style of a famous artist, because that is of course a learning experience – if that is what inspires you for this swap – however the final artwork you create MUST be your own original composition/character.
I hope you’ll share your favorite Mice illustrators and artists to our discord channel – #Theme-inspiration-ideas.
If ever in doubt just shoot me an email to ask a question. Send signups and any questions to [email protected]
