August’s THEME: AT THE FAIR / AT THE MAGIC MARKET UPDATED MAIL TO Host by: July 7th 2021 (I ask you try to always mail by the first few days of the new month unless there is an extension.) Requirements: As always our normal standards apply of original 2.5 x 3.5 inch original hand drawn/colored/painted cards in your best efforts. Read this Guidelines page! and follow them or risk your cards not being swapped my lovelies! THEME REQUIREMENTS: This month EVERY card must include a character and be in either a “fair” or “magic market” setting. What exactly is “At the Fair” or “At the Magic Market”: Fairs happen all over the world! I think we all have different ideas of what are fairs. But usually they happen during the summer and fall months. Have attractions, entertainers, rides, games, stalls/booths/carts selling things, lots of foods and usually local farm animals and locally grown or locally made products for people to enjoy. Think of the wonderful things you can see and do at a fair and add your character in there somehow. Do they work at the fair? Or are they visiting to have a good time? Magic Markets are just that – some sort of element to make the market magical or fantasy somehow. Whether that is magical items or maybe the character is fantasy. So yes a Mouse selling their normal every day goods at a market would be a magical market because that isn’t something we’d see in real life. An easy approach would be to think of any type of market you’ve ever seen or been to. A flea market, farmer’s market, antique market, fish market, any market you can think of where there are stalls and vendors selling you all sorts of unique and interesting things – make it magical or fantasy somehow whether its by making it a fantasy character or making the items fantastical. And there you have it! Mission accomplished. The character does not have to be the same in every card, you just have to include at least one character on each card. Whoever/whatever that character is, totally up to you. This is not 2 Swap Groups! You can do both types of settings or blend the 2 together or if you only want to make market cards or only fair cards that is fine. Its your choice. You do not have to do a full set of both. These are just 2 different settings that fit nicely together. So you can do whichever or both as you like. But only send in 1 set – this isn’t 2 different swap groups. Just keep in mind even if you send “all market” or “all fair” cards does not mean that is the type of cards you will receive back since I am not requiring folks make a certain number or each kind. Just make a set of whatever of both appeals to you and most importantly try your best and have fun and share with the group. No pinterest board for you guys this month because I’m pretty sure you can search up plenty of your own fun and unique things to inspire you. Perhaps look and see what your local fair or markets look like. Is there a famous market or fair that always happens in your town or city? Go have a visit – practicing social distancing the best you can of course. If ever in doubt just shoot me an email to ask a question.
